Using Projective Techniques in Education Research

چکیده

Projective techniques are unusual and often intriguing for respondents to complete, permitting them to express thoughts and feelings which can be difŽ cult to access by direct and structured questioning. This is achieved by presenting respondents with ambiguous verbal or visual stimulus materials, such as bubble cartoons, which they need to make sense of by drawing from their own experiences, thoughts, feelings and imagination before they can offer a response. Importantly, projective techniques can be fun and engaging for respondents, especially when they become involved in their analysis and interpretation. The various types of projective techniques are described and their beneŽ ts and drawbacks examined. A project involving students completing a range of projective techniques is used to illustrate these beneŽ ts and drawbacks.

Using projective techniques in the evaluation of groups for children of rehabilitating drug addicts.

Evaluators and researchers often have to deal with situations in which conventional research tools are impossible to use, either because of the characteristics of a population or unclear research variables. This paper presents a technique that succeeds in overcoming this kind of problem--a projective technique, but one that differs from the usual approach to projective techniques. The approach ...

Generative Research in Design Education

This paper proposes a model of design research used to structure projects in design education, with relevant connections to design practice. Design projects are phased through exploratory, generative, and evaluative sequences of research and design. Generative methods are particularly unique. Participatory and creative codesign toolkits are distinguished by their potential use as projective tec...

The Scientific Status of Projective Techniques.

Although projective techniques continue to be widely used in clinical and forensic settings, their scientific status remains highly controversial. In this monograph, we review the current state of the literature concerning the psychometric properties (norms, reliability, validity, incremental validity, treatment utility) of three major projective instruments: Rorschach Inkblot Test, Thematic Ap...

THE RELMBJLITY QP PROJECTIVE TECHNIQUES: REVfEw QF THE LITERATURR

Logically, though not historically, projective techniques must be regarded as a part of the general field of psychological measurement. Projective testing and research may therefore legitimately be studied within the theoretical and methodologicall framework of psychological measurement, always keeping in mind, of course, the problems that are peculiar to projective techniques. Largely as a.. r...

Universal Central Extension of Current Superalgebras

Representation as well as central extension are two of the most important concepts in the theory of Lie (super)algebras. Apart from the interest of mathematicians, the attention of physicist are also drawn to these two subjects because of the significant amount of their applications in Physics. In fact for physicists, the study of projective representations of Lie (super)algebras  are very impo...
